The Wizard from PlasticOZ

Resumo do projeto

Abstract The world is changing and developing at a high speed. Man’s endeavor to ease the life of himself and others, by applying technology, is increasingly moving towards the end of an unfavorable human race. When they were first used in 1947 and then brought to the public in the 1950s, no one was able to assume that today’s largest polluters are produced. With our project it is possible to continue using plastic bottles and save the Planet. We have created a new way of isolating objects with the help of waste plastic bottles. The project is based on the separation of plastic bottles from other waste, cutting and melting. The liquid plastic is poured into a die where it is molded into plates with which it is possible isolate objects. This insulation proved to be more effective than the already existing ones, such as styrofoam. The obtained insulation is more economical and easier to use since a very small amount of plastic is actually used. The usage of this insulation will reduce plastic waste and decrease pollution of soil, water and air. The project consists of two models, ordinary two-panel insulation and a green tree-panel system. The green system is particularly important because it contains a green facade, which would have a layer of plants in use. The mentioned layer of plants, except for the production of oxygen, would also absorb thermal radiation which is an issue that is not encompassed by other „old” insulation systems. The temperatures on both models were measured and the results are more than satisfying. Both models are, according to our research, better insulators than the already existing ones. The green system proved to be two times more effective than the common one we use – styrofoam. This unique insulation system would bring a revolution in today’s household insulation systems making them more efficient, eco-friendly, and easy to maintain and recycle. KEYWORDS: plastic, bottles, energy, thermal energy, styrofoam, sustainability, recycling, eco-friendly, convection, conduction, thermal radiation, efficiency
