The term of shape memory alloys (SHA) with super elasticity and shape memory feature consisting of Nickel and Titanium, Nitinol alloys used for metallic materials that can return to their previous shape with the effect of phase transformations in their crystal structures by applying the appropriate heat procedure when the geometry changes, is a metallic smart material group. These are materials that are used today for applications that require resistance and the areas of use are rapidly expanding. It is the shape memory effect that allows the material to remember its 3-dimensional shape at high temperatures, even if it deforms at low temperatures. Substances that can return to a predefined shape or size when subjected to appropriate thermal and mechanical procedures. It is the super elasticity that allows the Nitinol material to regain and maintain its original shape, despite the greater stresses that will cause plastic deformation, i.e. irreversible deformation for other metals. Thanks to the reversible solid phase transformation capabilities, in this project, the super elasticity and high impact absorption We aim to reduce the loss of life in accidents and prevent the occurrence of major material damages in car accidents as a result of the coating of the exoskeleton and body of the vehicle with this material.
